[If you're impatient Skip to the bottom for my contest/challenge to you]Have any of you heard of the snake who has a pet rat?
As the story goes, the owner of the snake fed it live rats and mice. One day, it put the rat in the snakes terrarium for the snake to snack on... but for some reason the snake didn't want to eat this rat... and the rat didn't seem to want to harm the snake. So odd were the events that the owner decided to let the snake keep the rat. The two got on peacefully, though the snake ate other mice and rats when it was hungry and given them... but never that particular rat, which became it's new terrarium companion.
Now the story varies from source to source- type of snake, whether it was a rat or a mouse, but other than that it remains about the same. And there are,I do believe, more than one account of things like this happening with reptiles and rodents. Whether or not the snake was in actuality just finding that rat inedible in some way and that is why it was spared it besides the point. The story is striking because it's fun to think of a snake with a pet, or friend rat.
The other night a friend and I were talking and I had been thinking about this story. I began to wonder what kind of answer I would get if I could ask the snake why it let the rat live.
I kept imagining all these witty and epic scenario's and word exchanges between the rat and the snake. All the different ways the rat might have convinced the snake to let it live- what would it have had to say or do the get the snake to want it as a friend instead.
I told this to my friend and he came up with this idea:

You should write the story, and I shall write the story and then we should compare what we have... it could be interesting... maybe we could get others to write it to... And that made me think:

It could be a whole collab- a compilation of the Snake and Mouse stories. We should post it as a contest on Devart. Or a meme on Devart. (E-mail address not verified) says (12:34 AM):
It's just a short story, one page maybe. And there you have it. We have decided to do a project, and all are invited to participate.
Write what your version of the events that led to them being friends, (and/or maybe an epilogue adventure of after they became companion buddies. Nothing long- no longer than 3 pages single spaced. Ideally about one page.
Then send it here. As a note or as a link to the deviation. Art pieces and comics of it are welcome too. If we get enough clever entries, who knows, maybe I'll add in prizes or make an anthology-publication of some kind of it.
So go ahead- get to work.
